KARIM EL SEROUI shows an excerpt from his current thematic cycle Darkroom on 200m2. A distorted perception of dull actors with a laptop in a stroller or an illusion in the collective frenzy.

“In the current global Covid-19 crisis, death and impermanence are more present than ever. The loss of control over one's own life and that of those who are close to us that goes hand in hand with these emotional issues puts us psychologically to the test, leaves us powerless, and makes us realize that we have to go on somehow. We also feel powerless and desperate when it comes to some other explosive and therefore omnipresent topics. The intellectual pandemic that underlies the one caused by the coronavirus, for example, is people's apparently limitless greed for growth. If we, the rich industrial nations and all those who are on the way there, continue to place greed for profit and economic growth above nature and life and continue to ruthlessly exploit the planet, this could very soon cost us our lives as well. Illness can be seen as an expression of a deeper, previously unseen truth. The truth, which is urgently coming into our field of vision and people's consciousness due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is, that in our collective thinking and acting, business and greed for profit ultimately dominate everything, instead of health, an environmentally friendly economic system and a social community. Which do we value more? Power, greed and system maintenance or sustainability, humanity and common good?
WOASNET is a romantically ugly, dirty reflection of our society in the context of current affairs."
